A Grove crane from Keeley Crane Service towers 250 feet above George J. Mitchell Field on Harpswell Neck on Nov. 11, as it installs equipment to improve Verizon service. A spokesperson for Verizon said the equipment “should be on air by the end of this year.” The installation is the latest development in a 2.5-year saga involving complaints of poor service from local customers of the telecommunications giant. Verizon declined to install equipment on the tower in 2022, shortly after its construction. The carrier reversed course after a petition drive by local residents, but has taken more than two years to complete the work. (Bisi Cameron Yee photo)
